I have visited Mexico on yearly basis... to several locations. The "tainted alcohol" has always been openly discussed among U.S. travelers. Three years ago, six of us in our group were at the pool (El Cid Castillo - Mazatlan and also 4-5 star all inclusives thru ut Cozumel, Cancun, Playa del Carmen) and after having a few cocktails at the pool in the middle of the day became so disorientated, they couldn't find their rooms, were severely sick and did not recall the details the next day or to this date! We spent several hours with security scouring the beaches, facility and surroundings and eventually all three were located in the resort, one floor above ours and all three had to be returned to their rooms - each in a wheelchair, all accompanied w/ two security guards each! As with a foot injury the year before, you KNOW not to obtain medical treament in Mexico as you will be held until a specified amount is paid. Also in such a critical instance the staff we needed to deal with spoke / understood very little english! Beware of ALL alcohol in Mexico & medical staff as well!
